Stinkin' Rules
RESTRICTIONS
The SASDVF Board of Directors utilizes the MPAA Rating system and will determine an overall rating for the festival, not individual entries. Entries that would be eligible to receive an "X" under the MPAA system are not allowed.
Festival winners will be selected from all entries and will be judged by a
qualified, multi-person panel to ensure unbiased and fair judging. Prize amounts
will be based on money collected as well as financial participation from colleges,
universities, and community colleges within contest region.
Submissions can be entered by individual students and by student groups; the contest is open
to anyone enrolled in any educational institution, regardless of age, sex, nationality, or religion. Entries must be
original works that have not been previously published, displayed, or exhibited.
No more than 1 entry per person / group is allowed. Submitters must be the creators
of the submitted work, holding the full copyright ownership therein. All required
data must be filled in. Incomplete or inaccurate form data will not be accepted.
No purchase necessary for entry. No submissions will be returned and no notification
of receipt will be made. Entrant shall bear any and all expenses incidental
to submitting work, including, but not limited to, production and shipping costs,
custom clearance, and insurance premiums(if any). The organizer cannot assume
any responsibility for any loss or damage to the entries.
LEGAL
WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES
SHALL ORGANIZER, SPONSORS, AND OTHER SUPPORTING COMPANIES, AND THEIR EMPLOYEES,
CONTRACTORS (INCLUDING JUDGES AND SPECIAL JUDGES), LICENSEES, OFFICERS, AND
DIRECTORS (COLLECTIVELY, THE "RELATED PARTIES") BE LIABLE FOR ANY
DIRECT, INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES THAT
RESULT FROM THE OPERATION OF THIS FESTIVAL, INCLUDING LOSS OR DAMAGE TO ENTRIES.
THIS LIMITATION APPLIES WHETHER THE ALLEGED LIABILITY IS BASE ON CONTRACT, TORT,
NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANDY OTHER BASIS, EVEN IF THE RELATED PART
HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE. IN CASE THE APPLICABLE JURISDICTION
DOES NOT ALLOW SAID ABSOLUTE EXCLUSION OF LIABILITIES, THE RELATED PARTY'S LIABILITY
IN SUCH JURISDICTION SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE REPAYMENT OF ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET
EXPENSES INCURRED BY THE ENTRANT IN ORDER TO MAKE THE ENTRY, OR TO THE MINIMUM
EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
FAIR USE
Copyright to the entries belongs to its respective creator. However, each entrant
expressly agrees that the organizer and its licensees may publish, reproduce,
display, exhibit, perform, show, print, distribute, or edit, in any media, such
entries, as well as each prize winning entrant's name, image, and likeness (except
for children under 16 unless prior parental consent has been obtained.) For
the purpose of promotion and public relations for the festival(including any
future sequels), and its result, at no charge, anywhere in the world, in perpetuity.
COPYRIGHT
For art films, or music contained in the entry, the entrant assumes all responsibility
to obtain all necessary rights and permissions, including without limitation
from the original creator or model, before submitting the entries. Each entrant
expresses and represents that: it has the right to submission and to grant the
rights herein set forth; there is neither law nor binding agreement which prohibits
its entering into this contest; the entry does not contain any illegal under
applicable laws; it owns exclusive ownership in and to the entry; and said use
of the entry and name, image, and likeness of the entrant by the Organizer and
its licensee's will not infringe or violate the rights of any third party or
constitutes a libel or slander or and invasion of the right of privacy of any
third party. Upon the Organizer's request and entrant shall provide a sufficient
proof of said ownership to the organizer. The organizer will not be responsible
for any claims or complaints from any third parties arise from any breach of
above representations. Each entrant further agrees to defend, indemnify, and
hold harmless the Related Parties from all liabilities, claims, and expenses,
including attorney fees that may arise from or in connection with their use
of entry and name, image, or likeness of an entrant. Without prejudice to the
foregoing, the organizer reserves the right, at its own expense, to assume the
exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification
by the entrant, in which event the owner will cooperate with the organizer in
asserting any available defense.
TECHNICAL
The organizer Is not responsible for technical, hardware, software, or telephone
failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, fraud, incomplete,
garbled, or delayed computer transmissions, whether caused by the organizer,
user, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the
contest or by any technical or human error.
QUALIFY
If the entrant fails to comply with any term of the rules, the organizer reserves
the right to immediately disqualify the entry, as well as the right to cancel
the award and to demand the return of award and or money, without prejudice
to recover of and further damages.
LOOPHOLES
The organizer reserves the right to determine items not covered in the rules.
If the entrant does not agree with such decision, the entrant may withdraw from
the contest, although in any event, an entrant is not entitled to reimbursement
of and expenses associated with entry into the contest.
Unless otherwise specified herein, the rules constitute the entire agreement
between the entrant and the organizer with respect to the contest and supersede
all prior contemporaneous communications and proposals (whether oral, written,
or electronic (between them with respect to the contest. If any part of the
rules is held invalid or unenforceable, the portion shall be construed in a
manner consistent with applicable law to reflect, as nearly as possible; the
original intentions of the parties and the remaining portions shall remain in
full force and effect.
PERSONAL
Organizer uses your personal information to (I) notify you about the contest
and (ii) to contact you about your work. Organizer will also use your personal
information when organizer notifies you about similar contests organizer holds
in the future. The Organizer does not make its mailing list available to third
parties.
